I have purchased several satellite messengers and at times, I have had them sitting on my desk or have kept them strapped to my backpack, but this isn’t the best practice for sensitive satellite devices. Someone in my family is always throwing things on my desk or grabbing my backpack and moving it across the room, so my number one suggestion for you is to make sure you have a carrying case to store your satellite messenger in when it’s not in use or you are transporting it to your next outdoor adventure. The CaseSack for the Garmin inReach Mini is the perfect way to protect this new investment.
The Garmin Backpack Tether is one of the accessories you will most enjoy on the trail. I know I am constantly removing my satellite messenger to check to see if I am on the right trail and once in a while, I will check to see if I have a message or have received a weather alert, especially when I’m hiking in the afternoon, high up in the Rocky Mountains.
The Gomadic Car Charger has been a life saver for me as I have forgotten to charge my satellite messenger several times before hitting the trail. It’s nice to be able to charge your device while en-route, if you failed to charge it at home.
One last accessory to consider is the Tusita Case for the Garmin inReach Mini. This case will help protect your device on the trail and make it more secure when handling it, especially if it’s cold or raining or snowing on your outdoor adventure. I think this protective case is especially handy as the inReach Mini is only about as large as a small wallet so it can slip out of your hands easier then a large device.
Take a few extra minutes and look into some of these accessories that will help you tremendously when out on the trail.
There are many more accessories created for the Garmin inReach Mini. Start looking for ways to protect your Mini and improve how you use it on your next outdoor adventure.

What intrigued me first about your article was the topic of the garmin inreach, itself. I didn’t realize that such a mini device was actually available! Then, to read about the accessories available, made it even more interesting. I have daughters who enjoy hiking and I’ve always worried about them finding their way. I’ve heard of hikers getting lost and while they have never talked about a time when they were lost, I am always concerned.
With the accessories available for the garmin inreach mini, I’m thinking this might be a great gift for my daughters. I like the silicone holder–it seems like it might be a favorite accessory of theirs, too!
Thanks for sharing this information.
The Garmin inReach Mini should be an important part of everyone’s outdoor gear, and you’re right, these devices and the accessories make great gift ideas, for any time of the year. It definitely brings peace of mind to my family and friends.

Hey Rick thanks for all the information you provide, I just bought a mini 2 do you know if the backpack tether work with the mini?
Hey Joe. I apologize for the late reply. I have four Garmin backpack tethers and they work for all of my inReach Garmin devices, except for the inReach Messsenger. You may have to buy the additional spine attachment from Garmin. I remember that the spine attachment came with my inReach Mini, but it did not come with my Mini 2.
I asked Garmin why they don’t include it and they said that people have different ways they like to attach the Mini 2 and it’s not always with the Garmin backpack tether. You can see more information of the backpack tether here. https://amzn.to/3Ql5gx5. Let me know if you have any other questions.
