Spot X sounds like a game-changer for hikers with that satellite messaging, you can’t put a price on that when it can save lives! I’m a frequent traveller and hiker so this would really be handy for me but I was wondering, does it work in any country since it’s satellite-based? I’m planning to bring it for my next jungle trekking in Japan 😀
The built-in keyboard makes sending unique messages much easier than almost any of the other satellite messengers. I can imagine being injured and trying to type a message with on on-screen system where as the built-in keyboard would definitely be easier.
You can check out the coverage areas provided by SPOT X but I can tell you now, as I just looked at the coverage, that Japan is well covered for the SPOT X.
Have a great trip to Japan.

Unlike the other ones I have seen, I like the fact that this spot x has an on-board messaging keypad which would make messaging or reaching out much more easier to do. I like the fact that it is a little bulky, though it was meant to be a con but it is a pro for me because it would make it much more handy and easier to carry for me. Thanks so much for reviewing this. I would be going on a hiking with my family soon and it would involve mountain climbing too. So, getting this for everyone would be a nice move. Thanks
Hi Tracy. The built-in keyboard is a huge plus. I can see if you are out with a group and you are not in a life-saving emergency but just want to communicate more easily or maybe you are in a bad situation but is not life-threatening yet, you would be grateful to send messages easily to your friends or family.
I can’t say this enough, but we all need to find some emergency locator that is right for our needs and always carry it with us on an outdoor adventure.

Another great review about spot x.You showed all the features of this product in a very specific and nice way. I love one if the feature most and that is this is waterproof. Price is very reasonable which anyone can afford. Another cool feature is it’s a two-way messaging system which definitely helps the user and will save time. Thanks for this review.
The waterproof feature is something that shouldn’t be overlooked. I have been out on many hikes and have had to cross rivers up to my waist. It’s never a problem unless you slip and fall and then that waterproof quality definitely pays off.
The price is actually really affordable and the subscription pricing is not bad. You can get a subscription for as little as $14.95/month with no annual contract and you only can only get it for the months you are going to be outdoors or need it (which will save you money).

Thanks for this great recommendation… I as an individual like to purchase things that are durable and would stand the test of time. Getting equipment or things that are weather conditioned and friendly is not so easy except if they have been tested well. The decision can be difficult because a lot of marketers would just lie to sell their goods… Thanks for recommending the Spot x for me. The fact I like about it is that it is waterproof and dust proof… Thanks for this helpful review.
You are very welcome. One thing I want to do here at Hiking Emergency Beacon.com is to provide solid research and information to help you make educated decisions. I am not trying to sell a specific item nor do I want anything here to feel like a sales pitch. I have built this site because I love hiking in the outdoors and I have realized how important an emergency locator is.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I like to see everyone’s thoughts and opinions.

This is a really nice device I must say. Its quality are really cool and the idea of it coming with its own United States number is just super nice to know. Generally I’m impressed with its features from the type of button which has come with it and the messaging style which is two ways makes it worth getting. I look forward to seeing more of these devices and I’ll inform the hikers, and distant travelers I know about this post. Best regards.
Thank you for stopping by and giving me your thoughts on the SPOT X. The one nice thing that the SPOT X has that none of the other emergency locator devices have (at least as far as I have researched) is the built in keyboard which makes the SPOT X easier to make unique outgoing messages which are more difficult and slow on the others where the messages have to be typed out on the screen.

Hello
Very interesting your article
I enjoy traveling and most of all I like places far from culture SPOT X is a tool I will definitely need and will take me out of the mess of not settling with my own people
It has a lot of good specifications, is waterproof and withstands low temperatures and high temperatures and the bulk is small and lightweight even provides your personal US mobile number
I think all your tips are timely and very useful.
Thanks
Thank you for the great comments. I like the unique U.S. mobile number also. The more time I spend in the outdoors and the more stories I hear of people needing to be rescued, the more I don’t want to leave home for one of my adventures, without a satellite device with an SOS function. The great thing is, you can use this device if you were involved in a bad accident deep in the mountains, where no one was around or caught in a blizzard.
