  1. This is one of the best websites that promotes so many different Beacon reviews! This site has so many information and it is really helpful because if you get stuck you can have one of these beacons to save your life! Beautiful layout of a site as well and this is one of the most unique niche ideas I have ever seen!! Thank you so much for this amazing information and reviews!

    • Thank you for the compliments. I live in Colorado and love getting outdoors every chance I get but, because of life experiences and my daughter being on a search and rescue team, I have learned the value of being prepared and have also started to see just how many thousands of people in Colorado alone need to be rescued each year.

I also have an additional site for hiking trails in Colorado.
      https://hikingtrailsincolorado.com/

These sites go well with each other as the things I learn on the trail, I write about here.

Let me know if you have any other questions or have more compliments.

      Thanks,

      Rick

  2. Hi and thanks for your review.

Im in Australia and my daughter is going on a ski camp with her school next year. I’d like to buy an avalanche beacon but it seems I can’t deliver to Australia via the links you have provided. Are you able to give me some more information about how the device works and also give me a link that I can purchase in Australia

    Kind regards,

    • Here is a link for Amazon in Australia.

      https://www.amazon.com.au/

There are a lot of additional options for more experienced users but in general, you turn it on, attach it securely inside your outer layer and then the leader should initiate a test with everyone in the group to make sure everyone is communicating with the other members. Make sure to follow the specific testing instructions for the device you’re using.

There is so much information I could give you but it is also dependent on the device you choose.

As for any device like this, including satellite messengers, always thoroughly test your equipment before heading out on your adventure.

I hope this helps. Please leave another comment of email me if you have more questions.

  3. I have never thought of buying an avalanche beacon before but this post has really come in handy because they look really powerful. For people like me who will still like to have some good experience of nature, it is good to be able to see that I can easily feel safe whenever I go out with this. Thank you for the information on each of them.

    • My daughter is in on a mountain search and rescue team here in Colorado and they are preparing for the ski season now by practicing for avalanche rescues. Each person on the team has to have an emergency satellite messenger and an avalanche beacon when going out in the winter.

She has been telling me stories already so I am careful to check websites that show the chances of avalanches in the area I am traveling to and making sure I am prepared with the best equipment.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  4. Hello;
it is very interesting your article, it is true that I am not passionate about winter sports but being a great hiker and knowing the risk that entails, I find it nice to know about such equipment. I strongly believe that I offer myself one of those proposed Arva Neo + why not? I wonder if their use can extend to forestry or river activities? I will be on the first page to discover new articles.
    thank you.

  5. When it comes to safety I want the very best and I have initiated this research with the intention of getting just that concerning an avalanche beacon. I have made up my mind and picked Mammut Barryvox S. I like that its search bandwidth is 70m. And the fact that its signal is analog and digital is really cool!

    • You have chosen one of the top avalanche beacons on the market and I like how you think. If you spend much time in the mountains, you want the best equipment to improve your enjoyment and chances of survival.

Thank you for sharing your opinion.

  6. I have been struggling to pick one. So I’ll ask you help. I like the Mammut Barryvox S because its signal is analog and digital. But I also like Arva Axio because it permits 5+ multiple victim indication. And I know this last one is also analog and digital. Which one would you choose? Is there something I’m not considering?

    • The Mammut Barryvox S is one of the top avalanche beacons on the market. It has a fast processor and is great during multiple burials. The Arva Axio is a great pick as well and the analog helps with micro strip searches. The Axio is also great with multiple burials. They both have 3 antennas so that is a wash. The Mammut Barryvox has a slightly larger search bandwidth. The Barryvox S costs about $100 more then the Axio but I believe the price is worth it, so I would take a hard look at the Mammut Barryvox.

Let me know if you have more questions.

  7. Wow, this is very good. I didn’t now that there are specific beacons that are designed to accommodate the avalanche. This is a very good invention and I really admire it. This post comes at a time when it is really needed, I mean at a time when people will actually need to go out and anything can happen this winter. Thanks for this.
