3 Ways to Send Messages
- Check-in Messages (they don’t count as a message, so they are free)
- Quick Text Messages
- Two-way Messages
Check-in Messages
You need to set these up on the Explore Garmin website, and they are easy to customize. You are allowed up to 3 Check-in Messages. Here is what I have for my check-in messages.
Quick Text Messages
Once again, you need to set up your Quick Text Messages on the Explore Garmin website and customize the messages if you want. You can have up to 20 Quick Text Messages. Here are the messages I have below.
Two-way Messaging
Make sure you set up your contact information and the friends and family you message most before heading out on your outdoor adventure.
Once you have set this up, then two-way messaging is easy. You can message on the device itself or on your synced smartphone.
Preset Messages
Sending a Preset message is a different name for sending a Quick Text Message. See the instructions from the Garmin Support site below.

Final Thoughts
The messaging abilities of the Garmin inReach Mini 2 is impressive, but it’s even better now that the Mini 2 has access to the Garmin Messenger App.
