Similarities

You can see that they have a lot of things in common, but there are at least five important things the Garmin inReach Mini 2 offers that the ACR Bivy Stick does not.

The most important thing is that the inReach Mini 2 is a stand-alone device where the ACR Bivy Stick can only Check-in and send an SOS Alert.

The Field Test

After watching the video below, you may be tempted to say these two satellite messengers offer the same services andGarmin inReach Mini 2 Weather Forecasts options, but you would be wrong. Here is a list of what I believe to be the most important things that the Mini 2 offers over the Bivy Stick.

  • On-screen Tracks and Routes
  • On-screen 2-way Messaging
  • On-screen Weather Forecasts
  • On-screen “Off-Course” and “On-Course” audible and visual alerts
  • Triangle Showing Your Location and Direction of Travel

The best thing is to watch the YouTube video below to really see how similar, yet different these two satellite messengers are.

Final Thoughts

You may not believe it by reading this article so far but the ACR Bivy Stick is one of my favorite satellite messengers. There are so many messengers out there and there is not one “right one” for everyone. I’ll be more then happy to help point you in the right direction if you have questions about which device is right for you.

The bottom line though is that the Garmin inReach Mini 2 is my favorite satellite messenger, not only in this comparison but is the messenger I carry with me when I’m not creating a review or comparison for this website or YouTube channel.
