1 of 5 Battery Life Tests on the 67i
Click on each of the links below for more information (in a YouTube video) on each GPSMAP 67i battery life test.
GPSMAP 67i Battery Test #1
In this first 67i battery test, I turned on the battery first thing in the morning, around 7 am, then turned it off at night, normally around 10 pm. I was out field testing the 67i almost every day, creating a training playlist for it, so I was not just turning it on and letting it sit in my window.
Sitting the GPSMAP 67i in my window gave it access to around 25% to 30% of the sky, which is important as the battery will run down faster when the device is constantly searching for a signal.
This test was conducted with the sensor in Mult-GNSS mode, Multi-band “ON”.
Test Start Date: 3/22/2023 at 10 am
Test End Date: 3/27/2023 at 9 am
Approximate Battery Life Hours: 80 hours
Note: These hours do not come close to the 165 hours that Garmin said it would get, however, you have to consider that I use my 67i a lot in field tests multiple times, almost daily.
GPSMAP 67i Battery Test #2
In this second 67i battery test, I left the device on 24/7. I did not get out much on field tests during this week.
Sitting the GPSMAP 67i in my window gave it access to around 25% to 30% of the sky, which is important as the battery will run down faster when the device is constantly searching for a signal.
This test was conducted with the sensor in Mult-GNSS mode, Multi-band “ON”.
Test Start Date: 3/27/2023 at 2 pm
Test End Date: 4/1/2023 at 5 pm
Approximate Battery Life Hours: 123 hours
GPSMAP 67i Battery Test #3
In this Third 67i battery test, I left the device on 24/7.
Sitting the GPSMAP 67i in my window gave it access to around 25% to 30% of the sky, which is important as the battery will run down faster when the device is constantly searching for a signal.
This test was conducted with the sensor in Mult-GNSS mode, Multi-band “ON”, with Standard Brightness, and Screen Always On.
Test Start Date: 4/1/2023
Test End Date: 4/2/2023
Approximate Battery Life Hours: 48 hours
GPSMAP 67i Battery Test #4
In this Fourth 67i battery test, I left the device on 24/7.
Sitting the GPSMAP 67i in my window gave it access to around 25% to 30% of the sky, which is important as the battery will run down faster when the device is constantly searching for a signal.
This test was conducted with the sensor in GPS mode, Multi-band “OFF”.
Test Start Date: 4/3/2023
Test End Date: 4/9/2023
Approximate Battery Life Hours: 216 hours
GPSMAP 67i Battery Test #5
In this Fifth 67i battery test, I turned the screen to “always on” with backlight timeout off, with 2 minute tracking and the screen on 80% brightness, plus the device was in GNSS mode.
I drove to Kansas from Colorado and the trip was 7.5 hours each way, so I had the device on for the entire trip, in 2 minute tracking.
This test was conducted with the sensor in GNSS mode, Multi-band “ON”, with the screen always on.
Test Start Date: 4-10-2023
Test End Date: 4-12-2023
Approximate Battery Life Hours: The Battery was at 44% after 15 Hours
GPSMAP 67i Battery Test #6
In this Sixth 67i battery test, I turned on the Expedition Mode and ran the test for 31 hours.
This test was conducted in Expedition Mode.
Test Start Date: 4-15-2023
Test End Date: 4-16-2023
Approximate Battery Life Hours: The Battery lost 3% after 31 Hours. The battery would have lasted around 33 days.
